June Holiday 2008

I had a happy and fun holiday. There was a few interesting activities during the holiday. There was a NCC camp during the holiday. It was a four day three night camp. I spent my first week preparing for my NCC camp. The camp is only for the secondary three pupils who will be promoting to sergeant. The camp is full of test. The camp is tiring but it gives you the opportunity to know friends from other school. It also serves as a revision for the things we learn in NCC for the past two years. I enjoyed the camp. The NCC camp starts on the first day of the second week. After the NCC camp, I had a few day rest to relax myself.

I spent the third week doing my homework, surfing the net and doing my Chinese project. The third week was quite quiet and peaceful. On the third week, my friends and I had a soccer match with our opponents on Saturday morning. On Saturday night, my friends called me and told me that they will be having an outing at sentosa on Sunday. After the conversation, I ponder for a while whether to go for the outing as I was quite tired after the match. In the end, I decided to go for the outing with my friends. It was a long time since we last gather, so I decided to go and meet my old friends. We arrived at sentosa in the morning, and had some team building games. We later on had our own games and activities. We left sentosa at about two to three in the afternoon. It was a meaningful day for me. I left the place and went home to rest after that.

On the last week. I went to stay at my cousin house for a few days. Staying at my cousin house was my favourite period during the holiday. As the relationship between my cousin and I are very close though we will only be meeting each other during holidays. It was my happiest moments during the holiday. We always share our happy and sad moments together. We play together and care for each other. We always went to the nearby street soccer court to find people whom are stranger to us to play soccer. We play badminton together too. We solved our question together too. Overall, I enjoyed my June Holiday and wish that it will last longer.

Growth Camp

I think that the growth camp is very fun and enjoying. I had a brand new experience in the camp as it was my first time going for a hike. I had learn a lot of things in the camp where you would not get to learn in the textbooks. The camp has made my mental strength stronger as compared to the time before the camp. The growth camp is a learning camp for student.
The camp is fun and enjoying. It is because the activities held in the night and in the morning are challenging and requires all the teamwork and effort. The activities in the night are blindfolding. First, the teacher will bring us to a spot where an object is place. Next, we will need to go back to the starting point blindfolded. We need to estimate the angles of the direction and the distance of the object and move to the spot without any help.
The process was absolutely fun and challenging. It was also my first time having a camp on my own without my family members. The hike was very challenging and it was due to every members perseverance and determination that help us to complete the hike. The rain came at the wrong time and it drenched us from head to toe on the way down to the foot of the mountain and back to the bus. Each and every one of us lend a helping hands to one another. Helping one another and noticing others about the danger in front becomes an important factor in the hike.
I have learn that we should not give up easily when we meet any obstacles or problems. The more difficult the obstacles is, the more I will try to challenge it. I have also learn about the measures and the things to look out for when hiking in order to have a save hike. Visiting the spastic children have let me know that I am actually very fortunate compare to them. This has let me to become a less complaining person. I appreciate the kind of quietness the environment gave us during the hike. This is something I would not get to see in my everyday lives. This may not be the knowledge, but this is sure the important factor to acquire better knowledge and better character.
The hike had train my mental strength. To make the hike a successful hike, we need a lot resilience, determination and persevearance to fight against our tiredness. The will to complete the hike had motivate me and persuade myself not to gave up.
Overall, it is not wrong to say that it is a fun and enjoying camp. It is also a camp that has full of learning opportunities. It is also time we learn how to be independent and take care of ourself.

English AA ( Career choice )

I have chosen interior designer as my career. I have chosen these career because this career is interesting, challenging, creative and enable you to express yourself through your creativity and style in your design. I am quite interested in drawing and I think this job suit me. Interior designer is a person who designs interiors as part of their job. Interior design draws on aspects of environmental psychology, architecture, and product design in addition to traditional decoration. Interior design is a creative practice that analyzes programmatic information, establishes a conceptual direction, refines the design direction, and produces graphic communication and construction documents. Interior designers have to be continually growing and changing, to keep up with their jobs.
Interior designers specializes in a particular interior design discipline such as residential and commercial design. Design areas such as hospitality, health care and institutional design, developing solutions for the people. Interior design must also have the awareness of the ability of interior spaces to create positive changes in people's lives. Designers must also meet broad qualifications and show competency in the entire scope of the profession, not only in their specialty.
The qualification for interior designers are a minimum diploma in Interior Design, Building, Architectural or equivalent. At least two years of relevant working experience in designing commercial offices. An interior designers needs to have good design flair and colour sense. Able to work as part of a team independently to meet tight deadline. Good at problem-solving and lateral thinking. Good communication and presentation skills are some of the qualities that a good designer needs. Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D rendering and must be able to read architectural plans are some skills that a designer needs to have.
Some of the future designing career are interior designer, event designer, exhibition designer, props designer, set and stage designer. Related career in the near future are design educator, furniture designer and design illustrator.

Singapore Flyer Experience

This journal is about my experience to the Singapore Flyer. I have expected the ride to be faster and more exhilarating. I have also expected the ride to be able to see the whole of Singapore. I was excited as it was my first visit to the Singapore Flyer. I was at the same time imagining how the view would look when I was in the capsule.
When I was in the capsule looking at the venue. I could see that the venue is lively. The venue is filled with greenery with the different types of trees and plants and the overwhelming serenity. The clear view of the venue gave me the feeling of fresh and clean air. I felt comfortable looking at the venue.
The most exciting moment of the flight is when the capsule reaches its highest point as it is the time where we can really view the whole of Singapore. I was overwhelmed by the beautiful scenery. I felt happy as it was my first time able to reach such a height. The surrounding sky scrappers, and the esplanade attracts me. It looks very prominent from the capsule. The shape and feature of it attracts me too. I have ample time to observe everything. I think that the landscape would be breath-taking if we had the chance to take the flight in the evening. The expectations were met to a limited extend but we enjoyed it.
Using one of our classmates as a measuring instruments was hilarious. I was shock to know that some of my freinds are afraid of height and acted in some odd ways.
I think that the trip was definitely worth worth going as it is a brand new experience for me. I have learn a lot of things during this trips. I have learn that math and science are applied in our everyday lives. I would definitely take the flight again as I still have the scenery and the unfinished constructions to enjoy. I would definitely recommend it. The magnificent bird's eye view of the Singapore is worth recommending.

Chinese New Year

I think that Chinese new year is a great occasion. I am going to talk about what Chinese new year meant to me. I think that It is really a chance for all of us to get together. It is also a traditional occasion as there are lots of trouble preparing the things needed. It is also a new start of the year and a new beginning of the year. To me, Chinese new year is a joyous occasion.
Getting together for a reunion dinner is really great. We can promote better relationship with family, friends and other relatives. You will also get to eat many different types of Chinese delicacy where you normally don't get to eat. Of course, though it is a joyous occasion, but we cannot forget about the dinning etiquette. We would be affected by our joyous feeling and thus, having great appetite.
Preparing for the Chinese new year can be great troubles too. We need to have a spring cleaning during the Chinese new year as we are not to clean or sweep our house during the Chinese new year as the Chinese believe that sweeping the house will sweep away the good fortune too. We would also need to decorate our house and prepare snack as our relatives and friend may come and visit us. We are refrain from using any bad or inappropriate words during the Chinese new year as it is not nice to be heard at such a joyous occasion. We must also wear shirt that are more vibrant especially red as red symbolises auspicious. Dull colour like black were best if we can avoid it as it is inauspicious.
Chinese new year is a joyous occasion as lots of noises especially chattering fill the air. We would always like to talk and discuss about one another affairs and how are our life progressing. Whether we are living good or not so as to express our concern and care to one another. I would feel very happy as i know they care about me.
I think that Chinese new year is very important as I cherish the happy time I spent with my family, friends and relatives as this kind of occasion only comes once a year. We could also earn some money during the Chinese new year. To me, I think that Chinese new year is a chance we should seized to know more about others.

Technology - A threat or a promise ?

I think that technology is both a threat and a promise. A threat because people like hacker may make use of it to do something bad.The technology also harms us and the environment as we produce lots of pollution. Because of the convenience of the technology, peole has misuse it. Technology is also a promise because it helps us alot. It brought us lots of convenient to us.An example would be travelling to far places. We can board an airplane to places far away in a shorter time.Medical scienes can also find out new way to cure diseases.

Is internet doing more harm than good ?

Internet is a resourceful place where you can find a lot of information. Internet is also more interesting which spurs you on to find more information using it than finding information from the book. Internet can cut down time while finding information than book in a few seconds! Like doing project or research, Internet can help you a lot. The interesting web page design attracts you too. We can sometimes find games to play in the Internet which seems to be unlimited. Playing games on the Internet can help us relieve our pressure. It is so common now that almost every family have a computer at home. I think that Internet is actually very helpful in helping us meeting our date line set by our teacher. If our teacher give us a one week grace to finish our project, we would be able to finish it punctually or even earlier. We no need to write out our information
I think that Internet is doing more good than harm. Like doing project or business man doing business. They would have to use the Internet. Internet can provide convenient to us. Without Internet, we would not be able to find information in a short time resulting in having to work until very late. We would not be able to use the computer to do PowerPoint to present to others so that they understand better. We have to do everything manually by hand. Without Internet and computer, we would be having a difficult time. It is so inconvenient.
Internet can also lead us to associate with bad friends, learning bad things as they may be scolding bad word or quarrelling on the Internet. Some people also make use of the convenient of Internet to do illegal things. Internet can also be violent as there may be people who play violent game online.
In my opinion, leading us to associate with bad friends is a rare case which not many people have been affected, let alone learning bad things from them. As long as we are innocent and we do not do it, it will not affect us. We, as students, will not do illegal things on internet and it's doing harm just to those people who wanted to be involved, not innocent parties. It is your mentality that leads you to be violent. You can play violent games and not be violent if you are reserved, but if you're naturally violent, playing it will affect you even more. Therefore, internet is not doing more harm than good, infact it is doing more good than harm.
